Built in 1950-1952, these three Modern International-style buildings, designed by Eggers and Higgins, were built as the first phase of Gateway Center, an office park created during urban renewal after World War II in Downtown Pittsburgh. The buildings are clad in aluminum with fluted spandrel panels, rectangular windows separated by aluminum mullions, a greek cross-shaped footprint, large bays at the stone-clad bases, contemporary curved glass-enclosed lobbies on two of the towers, and a central penthouse at the intersection of the four wings of each tower.
