Built in 1959-1961, this Modern New Formalist-style building was designed by Minoru Yamasaki for the Michigan State Medical Society to serve as the society’s headquarters, and was expanded with an addition, known as the Stockwell Wing, in 1979. The building features a barrel vaulted roof with a glass exterior featuring closely-spaced concrete columns, green marble spandrel panels, an entrance loggia with globe pendant light fixtures, and concrete panels on the end facades. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.
