University Apartments in Chicago (1961). They were designed by Araldo Cossutta and I. M. Pei in 1961. In the late 1950s, Hyde Park began a socioeconomic decline. It was rumored that the University of Chicago intended to seek a new home. In response, the city stepped in and demolished a row of taverns to make way for a new work by a renowned architect. To this day, the University of Chicago is famous for its lack of drinking establishments.
