"Ah, my most favorite building in the world. I spent many a Saturday in this building growing up." The Crocker Citizens Bank was the first true skyscraper to beat out City Hall as the tallest building in Los Angeles (a few more blocky buildings were completed that slightly exceeded City Hall in the 1950s). The Los Angeles Central Library was designed by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue and opened in 1926. It's in an Egyptian Revival style with sphinxes, snakes, mosaics, and of course the pyramid on top of the building. There is a huge globe chandelier in the dome under the pyramid.
