Built in 1901, Hotel New York housed the Holland Amerika Line (the Nederlandsche-Amerikaansche Stoomvaart Maatschappij). Many immigrants stayed here as a leg on their journey from the Netherlands, Germany and Eastern Europe to North America. People bought a complete package which include train journey to Rotterdam, accommodation in the port city and passage to America. It's now a hotel and restaurant.‹›
