Built in 1905-1908, this Prairie-style building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for the congregation of the Unity Church of Oak Park, founded in 1871, and replaced an earlier church that had burned. The building takes inspiration from Mayan architecture, an influence that would become more prominent in Wright’s work during the late 1910s and early 1920s, and is the earliest building designed by Wright to be built of concrete, and the most famous of the Unitarian-Universalist churches designed by Wright, whose family was heavily involved in the church.
