Built in the 19th Century, these victorian mansions are some of the last remnants of the historic residential character on the southern end of Delaware Avenue below Virginia Street, where most traces of the street’s past as a prestigious residential address have been largely wiped away by well over a century of commercial development as the city grew and the downtown area expanded to the north. The house on the left, the William Dorsheimer House, was built in 1868 and designed by Henry Hobson Richardson, and is an example of the Second Empire style, with a mansard roof.
