Built in 1959-1961, this Organic Modern-style building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for the congregation of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, founded in 1906. One of the last commissions that Wright received, the building was based on traditional Byzantine architecture, which was reinterpreted by Wright for a modern context, informed by the Greek Orthodox background of his wife, Olgivanna Lloyd Wright. The building draws from the traditional domed form of Greek Orthodox churches, with a Greek Cross-shaped footprint, with abstracted and simplified forms with a heavy emphasis on arched o‹›
